Citizens of Heaven: Rethinking Patriotism in a Global Gospel, Part 5

Posted on 10/06/2025 at The Curmudgeon’s Chronicle

A semi-abstract illustration depicts a person standing at a crossroads between an American landscape with farmlands, mountains, and a flag, and a Japanese horizon with cherry blossoms, a Shinto gate, and Mount Fuji. A golden sky with subtle cross imagery glows above, symbolizing heavenly citizenship. The person holds a Bible, gazing upward, with a path stretching toward the horizon, rendered in warm blues, golds, and reds in a painterly style.

Open Letter to Nationalist Leaders

Influential voices – Joel Webbon, Jon Harris, Matt Walsh, Andrew Isker, Brian Sauvé, Eric Conn, Stephen Wolfe – I address you not as an adversary from afar, but as a fellow laborer grieved by the schism your words sow. You command pulpits and platforms that could rally the saints to Christ's global banner, yet too often they hoist flags of flesh and blood instead. Today, my words come without mercy: your rhetoric peddles a 'bastardized gospel', a perverted creed that crowns ethnicity as co-regent with the King. It resonates not with the apostles' fire, but with the sulfurous strains of Corey Mahler and Ryan Dumperth's "Stone Choir" – the very extremism you flirt with, amplify, and fail to rebuke. Clarify, recant, and realign with the commission that knows no partiality. For in your silence and echoes, you invite wolves to the fold, and you will stand before God one day and answer for the blood that will stain your hands.

Let me be plain: your framework haunts every step of obedience, a siren's lure to the very idolatry it claims to combat. As my family readies for Japan – planting among a people 99% unreached by the gospel (Joshua Project, 2025) – your bunkers of 'heritage' rise like walls Scripture never sanctioned. This isn't theory; it's the gospel's gut-punch. My daughter's first words may echo in Japanese, her young eyes drinking in a culture your vision might brand as alien or encroaching. Yet in Christ, she'll claim them as kin – not threats. Your partiality inverts this: it quarantines grace behind lines of lineage, echoing Mahler's September screeds – his Sept. 16 perversion of Jeremiah 18, twisting God's potter's wheel from national repentance to racial 'kingdoms' fated for divine demolition or dominion. You've not plunged that deep – yet. But your winks at the abyss, your shared lexicon of suspicion, make you architects of the slope.

Your words stand etched in stone for judgment.

X post from Joel Webbon saying 'A race war is coming. Every pastor who celebrated the degenerate George Floyd is responsible.'

Joel Webbon, your September 9 cry – "A race war is coming. Every pastor who celebrated the degenerate George Floyd is responsible" – isn't prophecy; it's provocation, a match to Mahler's Sept. 13 fantasy of a White 'Africanus' conqueror, some ethnic Scipio reclaiming lost glories. You decry "Gay Race Communism" (Sept. 6), framing threats as a leftist cocktail of perversion and pigment, but in doing so, you echo Stone Choir's 2024 homogeneity hymns, where ethnic silos are God's design. Where is the Scripture for this? Not in the Great Commission, which bids us disciple all nations (Matt. 28:19), but in the fever dreams of men who’d quarantine the gospel behind borders of blood.

X post from Jon Harris saying 'Beyond faith, rediscovering local history and family heritage restores rootedness. Knowing the stories of your land—whether settlers, heroes, or landmarks—or tracing lineage brings the past to life, giving a sense of place in an uprooted age.'

Jon Harris, your July 11 thread on re-enchantment urging a return to 'local history and family heritage' to restore rootedness in an uprooted age leans on ethnic and cultural nostalgia as a bulwark against modern chaos. This aligns too closely with Mahler’s Sept. 21 claim of a purified "Christian Nationalism" free of 'outsiders', risking elevation of heritage markers over the gospel’s universal call – a drift Scripture never endorses.

X post from Matt Walsh saying 'There are a lot of people, even on the right, who don’t want to talk about the racial angle of these crimes. But here’s the fact: if I told you that a person was randomly butchered on a train and then I asked you to guess the race of the assailant, you would guess black and be correct nearly every time. That’s just the simple reality. We all know it. There is a very obvious pattern here, well established over the course of many decades. The dividing line is not between those who recognize it and those who don’t. We all recognize it. The line is between those who are willing to say it out loud and those who aren’t.'

Matt Walsh, your blunt September 7 admission – "if I told you that a person was randomly butchered on a train... you would guess black and be correct nearly every time" – lays bare the partiality James 2:9 condemns: "But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin." Noting patterns of sin is one thing; wielding them as warrants for suspicion mirrors Mahler's Sept. 11 sleight, where Revelation 7:9's white-robed multitude becomes ethnic wardrobe, not the ransomed from every tribe.

X post from Andrew Isker saying 'The footage of Carmelo Anthony stabbing Austin Metcalf has been hidden by the powers that be for nearly six months. The police confiscated every kid's cell phone at that track meet. Not one single video made it out to the public. Narrative control. This is why the FBI sends the Community Relations Service out to grieving parents—narrative control.'

Andrew Isker, your September 10 post accusing authorities of suppressing footage in the Carmelo Anthony stabbing of Austin Metcalf – claiming it’s 'narrative control' to shield 'disprivileged races' at the expense of 'privileged races' – builds a fortress of resentment. It echoes Webbon’s Sept. 12 emails pleading FBI protection for the same besieged group, aligning with Stone Choir’s 2024 vision of ethnic purity as divine mandate. This isn’t defense of faith – it’s defense of a myth Scripture rejects.

X post from Brian Sauvé including a paragraph saying 'In laymen's terms, we could say that Christian nationalism is what you get when a nation self-consciously identifies itself as a Christian people and seeks to align its life with Christian faith and practice, seeking it's own good on both a spiritual level and a physical level.'

Brian Sauvé, your September 15 definition of "Christian Nationalism" – "what you get when a nation self-consciously identifies itself as a Christian people and seeks to align its life with Christian faith and practice, seeking it's own good on both a spiritual level and a physical level" – sounds pious, an outworking of ordo amoris. But probe it: prioritizing "its own national good" before the world's, like a householder before neighbors, risks the elder brother's snarl in Luke 15. It dovetails too neatly with Stone Choir's 2024 X anthems to "Ethnic Homogeneity," where diversity is dilution, not divine.

X post from Eric Conn saying 'Say what you want, but Vlad understood the political will necessary to defend his people against Islam.' X post from Eric Conn saying 'What you have to understand is that this was the inevitable, natural destination that the Civil Rights agenda was always aimed at. It was always Marxist egalitarian wickedness. Gay Race Communism won't stop until it makes every nation Zimbabwe or South Africa.'

Eric Conn, your September 8 praise of Vlad the Impaler’s violent defense, paired with your call for "Heritage Americans" to stand against erosion, and your September 10 claim that civil rights agendas breed violent "Gay Race Communism," stirs a vigilante pot. Your Crusade glorification – ignoring the 1099 Jerusalem massacre – echoes Mahler’s Sept. 16 racial 'kingdoms', arming "Heritage Americans" to slay the stranger God commands us to love.

Stephen Wolfe, your July 2025 podcast tour de force – arguing a Christian order needs no democratic majority, just an elite minority to impose it – crystallizes the treason. You romanticize a WASP-like hegemony, a "minority elite" displacing the melting pot for a purified polity. But America was never that monolith; the 2020 Census mocks it: 60% non-Hispanic white, intertwined with diverse Hispanic, Black, and Asian lineages from waves of 'others' God called to dwell here. Your vision echoes Mahler’s Sept. 21 claim: "Under Christian Nationalism, there will be no Jews." This isn't faithfulness – it’s the prophets of Baal, demanding altars to ancestry while the nations perish without Christ.

Feel the weight of Scripture: Acts 17:26-27 demolishes your hierarchies. God "hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him." One blood – not stratified castes, not WASP gold standard over "displaced" inferiors. He scattered nations to seek Him, not to shun the seeker. Your racial gospel inverts this: it bids the 'heritage' hoard the hunt, while strangers grope in darkness. Galatians 3:28 seals the indictment: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Some scoff, "Then no male and female either?" – a category error, pitting spiritual unity (salvation's level ground) against creation's distinctions (Gen. 1:27's genders for family and church). The verse shatters ethnic walls to the gospel, not God's design for manhood or womanhood (1 Cor. 11:3). Revelation 7:9 mocks your silos: "a great multitude... of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne." That's eternity's riot – not a monochrome revival, but the Lamb's global bride. Your "Christian Nationalism," prizing one nation's "good" above this? It's not the ordo amoris; it's the ordo of Babel, scattering what Christ unites.

This isn't academic. As I prepare for Japan, your words sting like salt in a wound. We'll cross oceans not to "export heritage," but to ignite faith among the unreached – strangers God loves as fiercely as any "heritage American." Hebrews 13:2 bids us: "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." I've entertained Mahler’s echoes in your feeds, and they reek of sulfur, not seraphim. Stone Choir's 2024 X dirges to racial purism? You amplify kin: Webbon's "race war," Walsh's racial roulette, Wolfe's elite edict. Repent of this complicity. Publicly disavow the slope – Mahler's "no Jews" under "Christian Nationalism," his Jeremiah races as fated foes. Clarify: Does your nationalism demand ethnic prerequisites for the gospel? If yes, it's no gospel at all. If no, say so, and join the commission that knows no borders but Calvary's.

I plead as one who once admired your fire: turn. You've grieved the Spirit with partiality that damns (James 2:9). But grace abounds – return to the cross that levels all (Col. 1:20). Embrace the global fire: disciple all nations, love the stranger as self (Lev. 19:34). My Japan steps? They're a rebuke to your silos – a call to loose the chains of 'heritage' for heaven's multitude. Will you join, or persist in the fever dream? The throne awaits no traitors to the Lamb, only the faithful who shattered idols. Respond if you will; the church watches. For Christ's sake – and the nations' – reject the racial gospel. Find your citizenship in heaven.

In the grip of grace,

Zack Shrout
